This policy has been established to increase the level of service offered to runners who have shown the potential to compete at a high standard.
A summary of the standards required for priority start position are outlined in the table below. These times must have been achieved since 1 January, 2017.

Priority Start

Event organisers are pleased to offer priority start to eligible participants of all distances. Applications must meet the standards above and must be received by 5pm WST on Friday 27 July 2018.

Criteria for a priority start position:

Athletes who have achieved the times listed above since 1 January, 2017:

  • For Australian races, only times on Athletics Australia certified accurate courses will be accepted.
  • For overseas races, the course must have been measured in accordance with IAAF and AIMS standards.

*Priority starts are limited, athletes who meet the selection criteria are not guaranteed a spot and in any case the event organiser’s decision is final.

N.B. 12km times will be considered for debut half marathoners and half marathon times considered for debut marathoners. Times may also be considered from prior to 1 January, 2017 in some circumstances.

Please note: The Chevron City to Surf for Activ is predominately a fundraising run owned by WA Charity, Activ Foundation. The Marathon course has changed in recent months and, as such, the new course distance has not been certified for 2018. The Marathon is not sanctioned by Athletics Australia/AIMS or a recognised IAAF road race. This may change in future years if time and funds permit.
