Volunteer FAQs

I have volunteered for the Chevron City to Surf for Activ in the past. Do I still need to sign up?

Welcome back! Yes, please complete the volunteer form again so that we have your current details.

Are there age limits for volunteering?

There is no minimum age limit, however volunteers 16 years old and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during their shift. The parent or guardian accompanying the minor volunteer MUST also be signed up to ensure we have their important information (e.g. emergency contact details) recorded.

The maximum age limit is 89 years of age.

What will I receive for volunteering?

You will receive a Chevron City to Surf for Activ volunteer t-shirt, that is yours to keep, and must be worn on your shift. You will also receive a pack with other goodies, water, and snacks for your shift.

How long are the volunteer shifts?

Roles are normally between 2 and 4 hours and depend on the role picked and location of that role.

Do I need to stay for my entire volunteer shift?

Yes, you do. The Event Team have calculated what is needed to fill the roles for that amount of time. If you are unable to fill the required amount of time for the role you have selected, we will work with you to see if there is a shorter role available.

What roles are available?

Pre-event we have postal packing (during business hours and great for people who are retired or tertiary students) and Bib Collection, where participants come and collect their items required for the event.

On event day we have roles at the start lines (12km and 4km), along the course supporting the participants, and at the finish line.

Please Note: All Water Stations have been filled.

What roles do you have in Karratha?

Pre-event we have Bib Collection and on event day we have roles like Perth (e.g. start/finish line and along the course).

Do I need experience to volunteer?

No, you don’t need any experience. You just need to have a great attitude and like working with people. All training and instructions are provided on the day. You will also be provided with the number of the Volunteer Manager for any support needed on the day of your shift.

Why is it called the Chevron City to Surf for Activ? Who are Chevron and Activ?

The wonderful team at Chevron are the naming rights sponsor of the event and are a long-time supporter of Activ Foundation.

Activ Foundation are the owners of the event. They support more than 1,400 individuals and their families across Western Australia with a focus on enabling and supporting people with disability in their transition towards independence.

Why should I volunteer?

To make the event a success it takes around 1,000 volunteers! So, without you we wouldn’t be able to run the event. By volunteering you are helping Activ Foundation to support people living in Western Australia with disabilities AND you are supporting the thousands of people participating in the event, which might just be your family and friends.

If I volunteer, can I get hours signed off for school or university?

Yes, hours can be signed off electronically once the event is complete. We will also send you a Thank You Certificate for all your hard work.

Are there any team roles?

We have limited roles available for teams, however we would love to hear from you to discuss further. Please email the Volunteer Manager at volunteers@perthcitytosurf.com.au with information on the size of your group and any relevant details.

I want to volunteer with a friend. How can I?

Ensure your friend has signed up as well (so we have their details) and mention their name on your volunteer form, so we know you would like to volunteer together. We’ll do our best to accommodate this request.
