Activ customer David is a proud ambassador for this year’s Chevron City to Surf for Activ. The self-proclaimed superstar is already in training for the event with his support worker, taking walks in the park across the road from his Activ house regularly to prepare for the big day.

“I support Activ. I like doing the stuff I do, I do like it,” he says.

David brings a surge of energy everywhere he goes, including his local Activ Community Hub.

His smile lights up as he takes a microphone in hand and prepares to sing his favourite John Farnham anthem during a regular karaoke session at the Hub.

You’re the Voice is his top pick of Farnsy’s classics, with David’s karaoke rendition in front of his friends filling the room with an energy that always boosts his audience to dance or sing along during his performances.

David loves to catch up with staff and friends at the Hub, with John Farnham and cars two of his top topics of conversation. He is also a strikingly good bowler, and heads to the local bowling alley with his support worker on a regular basis to play a friendly game or two.

“I got two spares and two strikes. I better bowler, yeah I love it – I like bowling,” David says.

His victory pose after his turn and at the end of his winning game never fails to bring smiles to everyone’s faces. He is a self-proclaimed superstar who loves being active with his friends in the community, sharing his vibrant personality with everyone he meets.

When he’s not bowling, socialising or working, David enjoys spending time at home with his housemates. He lives in an Activ house, with parklands across the road and a bus stop a short walk from home, giving him access to local shops, restaurants and activities nearby.

David is very proud of his home and welcomes his friends and family to his house to catch up over a cuppa.

“I make my own milo and I make my own lunch. I like the stuff I do, I do like it,” he says. He has developed his skills in the kitchen with assistance from his Activ support team, and is proud to use his skills to do things for himself on a daily basis.

David’s vibrant, can-do attitude and the supports he receives from the Activ team at home and in the community give David the confidence and skills to live the life he chooses.
