What is your favourite aspect of the Chevron City to Surf for Activ? I grew up participating in the City to Surf when it was only a 12km event. I love that it has grown in to the event it is today, with thousands of people participating, now offering a variety of distances which encourages more people to get involved.

What are your top tips for running a well-paced race? Know your limitations. Stick to your race plan and don’t run too fast in the first 30km. Inevitably you will feel great until then, but the marathon doesn’t really start until the 30-32km mark. Even a few seconds/km too fast will hurt you in the latter stages so don’t try and ‘bank’ time early on otherwise you will most likely “hit the wall”.

My family often host breakfast along the latter part of the course and there is nothing better than seeing their faces when you most need the encouragement to get to the finish line!

Do you have any quirky pre or post run rituals? Prepare my race kit the night before so I can just wake up and get out the door. Don’t stress about not getting 8hrs sleep the night before, I probably won’t and the energy around me on the day will be enough to get me over the line.
