The 2026 Chevron City to Surf for genU is a fun and rewarding experience, even if you don’t feel like walking, running, or rolling.

This iconic community event wouldn’t be possible without all of our dedicated and hard-working volunteers. Each year, our volunteers help the tens of thousands of participants to stay happy, healthy, and on course – before, during, and after the event.

Who can volunteer?

Anyone aged 16 and over can volunteer. Younger participants may be able to assist with a parent or guardian present in certain roles.

What kind of roles are available?

Roles include packing bibs and event materials, assisting with bib collection, supporting participants at the start line, and welcoming finishers while keeping the finish area safe and organised.

Do I need experience to volunteer?

No experience is needed! We provide instructions and support so you feel confident in your role.

Can I volunteer with friends?

Absolutely! Let us know when registering and we’ll do our best to place you together.

Will I receive a certificate or recognition?

Yes, all volunteers receive a certificate of appreciation after the event.

What are the benefits of volunteering?
